Vision, mexican diamond earrings in sterling silver

"Vision" is a pair of earrings featuring a Mexican motif engraved in silver, inspired by the rich cultural and artistic traditions of Mexico. The main motif of these earrings is a diamond shape outlined with iridescent triangles, a design prevalent in many Mexican cultures and visible on various pre-Hispanic and contemporary mediums such as buildings, tombs, ceramics, clothing, and rugs. This motif was particularly popularized by the Huichol tribe of northern Mexico and was possibly inspired by the patterns on rattlesnake skin.

The Huichols call this motif "Ojo de Dios" in Spanish, meaning "the eye of God," hence the name Vision that we have given it. Originally, the Ojo de Dios is an object woven from threads of different colors on a wooden cross. The motif, also known in the Huichol language as Sikulu or Tsikuri, means "the power to see and understand things unknown." It is believed to represent the god Kauyumari, the blue deer, who can see and understand all the mysteries of the universe.

This symbol takes the form of a diamond composed of bands of different colors, mounted on a cross whose branches are often decorated with tassels. This structure might symbolize the world at the center and the four cardinal points. According to legend, the Ojo de Dios allows the gods to see everything happening on earth through it. Traditionally, it is made by the father of the family at the birth of a child, with each band of color representing a year of protection and blessing.

Below the engraved diamonds, we have placed long hammered tassels to play with the light and recall the tassels of the original object made by the Huichols. These tassels add an element of movement and dynamism to the earrings, capturing the light in a captivating manner and accentuating the richness of the engraved motifs.

The Vision earrings are a tribute to Mexican art and culture, as well as a symbol of protection, vision, and spiritual connection. By wearing these earrings, you carry with you a part of the history and mystique of the Huichols, celebrating the beauty and depth of ancestral traditions.
