Oriental sun, oriental geometric sun ring in sterling silver

The "Oriental Sun" ring features a frieze of suns in a geometric style inspired by Hispano-Moresque motifs of Mudéjar art. The term Mudéjar refers to Muslims who remained in Spain after the 11th century, allowed to practice Islam before eventually being progressively expelled. They left behind a unique artistic legacy that blends their Muslim origins with European Gothic style, visible in many buildings across Spain.

This distinctive style extends to France, notably in the Oriental Salon of Château de Villandry. This castle is renowned for its magnificent gardens, but those who ventured inside were likely awestruck by the ceiling of the Oriental Salon, adorned with stars evoking tales from the Arabian Nights.

The "Oriental Sun" ring celebrates creativity and the blending of cultures through the representation of the sun, a symbol of light and guidance. The geometric design of the suns, engraved in silver, echoes the richness and sophistication of Mudéjar motifs. Each ray of the sun on the ring is an invitation to appreciate the beauty of cultural diversity and the artistic heritage it has fostered.

Wear this ring to honor the fusion of traditions and the brilliance of the Eastern sun, a jewel that illuminates and inspires, much like the stars adorning the ceiling of the Oriental Salon at Château de Villandry.
