Mermaid, fish scale ring in sterling silver

 

The "Mermaid" ring is the result of extensive research aimed at creating a piece of jewelry that symbolizes water, the marine world, and the well-being associated with the aquatic environment. We designed a band engraved with raised scales to create volume and contrast. Scales, a common feature among many marine species, especially fish, also cover half the bodies of mermaids, these fantastic creatures that perfectly embody well-being in an aquatic setting.

Mermaids are legendary creatures, half-woman, half-fish, originating from North European medieval folklore. They were quickly conflated with the sirens of Greek mythology, who were originally women with the lower bodies of birds. Both mythical creatures share the ability to enchant sailors. For Scandinavians, the mermaid is a fearsome monster called Margygr, or "sea giantess." Many European legends speak of mermaids living not only in the sea but also in rivers and small streams.

The scale design of this ring evokes not only the beauty and diversity of marine life but also the harmony and serenity one can feel when surrounded by water. The silver used to craft this ring adds a touch of refinement and elegance, delicately reflecting light like the shimmering surface of the ocean.

Width of the band: 6 mm.

Manufacturing time: 5 business days.

Thickness of the ring: this model can be made with thicknesses of 1 mm, 1.3 mm or 1.6 mm. For reference, go to the last photo of the slideshow.

The ring thickness on the model is 1.3 mm.

Important: depending on your finger size, the solder at the back of your ring will show an interruption in the pattern with a plain vertical and in order to keep an overall harmony. Each rind is custom made and each finish will also be custom made (please refer to the example picture at the end of the photo series).
