Persephone, pomegranate necklace in silver and garnet

The "Persephone" necklace is an artistic and poetic ode to the fruit that sealed the fate of the Greek goddess Persephone. This elegant piece celebrates one of the most captivating myths of Greek mythology.

According to legend, Persephone, the daughter of Demeter, goddess of harvest, was abducted by Hades, the god of the underworld, to become his wife. Desperate over her daughter’s disappearance, Demeter roamed the earth in search of her, leaving the fields barren and the world to wither. Faced with impending famine, Zeus ordered Persephone to be returned to her mother. However, unwilling to lose his wife, Hades made her eat six pomegranate seeds, thus binding her forever to the underworld. To ease tensions, Zeus decreed that Persephone would spend six months of the year with her mother on earth, in spring and summer, and the other six months with her husband in the underworld, in autumn and winter. Thus, Persephone became the symbol of the cycle of life, renewal, and seasonal transformation.

The pendant of this necklace takes the elegant and detailed form of the silhouette of the pomegranate fruit, split in the middle. The rounded shape of the fruit is adorned with a crown, resembling the fruit’s tail. The fruit is finely engraved with plant arabesques, leaves, flowers, and stems, evoking a flourishing of life bursting from the pomegranate seeds. This lushness represents not only fertility and prosperity but also the crucial role of Persephone in the cycle of seasons.

At the heart of the fruit, a deep red garnet cabochon symbolizes the pomegranate seeds, recalling the passion and intensity of Hades’ love for Persephone. The garnet, with its vibrant color, embodies the promise of renewal and growth, while being a messenger of passionate love and consuming passion.

"Persephone" is a piece of jewelry rich in symbolism and history. It celebrates fertility, prosperity, and the eternal cycle of life, making this piece a talisman of renewal and transformation.
