Nautilida, nautilus pendant in sterling silver

The Nautilida pendant in sterling silver represents the shell of the nautilus, a marine mollusk that first appeared over 400 million years ago—long before the dinosaurs—and has remained virtually unchanged since. Often referred to as a living fossil, it stands as a silent witness to geological eras, a survivor from a world long past.

This ancient creature fascinates us not only because of its age, but also due to the geometric beauty and unique elegance of its shell. Reminiscent of a fossilized ammonite, it shares the same spiraled shape and symbolic weight. Yet unlike the ammonite, the nautilus still lives, gliding through the depths with surprising grace despite the sturdiness of its shell. It seems like a living stone, a fragment of rock imbued with life, drifting slowly and majestically through the ocean, untouched by the tides of time and the upheavals of the world.

The nautilus is often seen as a symbol of perfection. This perception arises from the fact that it has needed no further evolution since its origin—it appears to have emerged fully formed, functional, and harmonious. Its logarithmic spiral shell, composed of regular, solid, and orderly chambers, is a masterpiece of natural architecture. It represents strength, symmetry, continuous growth, and inner stability.

Thanks to its internal structure, it also evokes the idea of endurance, of the hidden order of life, and of the ability to evolve without losing balance. The nautilus becomes a symbol of mindful evolution, inner constancy, and adaptation without self-betrayal.

Its spiraled design is also an expression of the golden ratio—a mathematical proportion found in works of art, cathedrals, galaxies, and flowers. The nautilus thus embodies a form of universal beauty, a natural elegance that reaches toward infinity. It bridges nature, science, and the sacred.
