Monsoon, duality of nature pendant in silver and serpentine

The “Monsoon” pendant was designed to showcase a magnificent oval-shaped serpentine, with deep green tones streaked with golden veins that evoke flashes of lightning or streams of muddy water. This rare and evocative cabochon, whose shades alone tell a story of contrast, is a perfect metaphor for nature’s duality: generous and nurturing, yet also unpredictable and sometimes destructive.

Inspired by this contrast, the pendant’s silver setting adopts a teardrop shape, pointing downward like a droplet suspended between sky and earth. The surface is adorned with a delicate botanical and floral motif, highlighting the deep connection between water, earth, and life. At the tip of the drop sits a silver half-sphere, flanked by two tiny silver beads. These elements represent seeds carried by the wind, waiting for the rains to take root and sprout — symbols of rebirth and renewal.

Above the stone, a decorative line depicts the stages of vegetal growth: from seed to bud, to the full bloom of a flower. It pays tribute to the cyclical power of nature. The bail of the pendant is formed by a twisted arc holding a silver ring, echoing the spiral movement of climbing vines or stems reaching for light.

This pendant is named “Monsoon” in homage to the complex and vital meteorological phenomenon. In many regions of the world, the monsoon rains are awaited with longing: they awaken the soil, replenish groundwater, feed crops, and transform dry landscapes into lush green oceans. This abundance is reflected in the dense green of the serpentine. But the monsoon can also be overwhelming, fierce, and devastating. Floods, landslides, and torrents of mud — all subtly suggested by the golden veins within the stone — are reminders of nature’s raw and unrelenting power.

This pendant is an ode to the fragile balance between gift and excess, between life and chaos. It is also a call for awareness and gratitude: in a world where water is becoming increasingly scarce, the monsoon remains, for millions, a seasonal miracle — a blue gold that falls from the sky. A force we must learn to respect, to manage, and to honor.
