JEWELRY
INSPIRATION
The Mora pendant draws inspiration from both the teardrop shape and the mesmerizing iridescence of this stunning labradorite. Its surface reveals a captivating play of colors, shifting between deep blue, vibrant turquoise, luminous gray, and subtle green hues—echoing the shimmering variations found in a peacock’s plumage.
Cut into a teardrop shape, the cabochon evokes the peacock feather’s eye-like marking, the ocellus, a natural design that captures and reflects light in a thousand dazzling flashes. This resemblance gave birth to its name, Mora, which means "peacock" in Hindi.
This pendant was designed as a tribute to this majestic bird, a symbol of beauty and splendor. The labradorite rests on a silver plate that harmoniously follows its contours, extending slightly beyond its edges, like a metallic aura enhancing the stone. It is secured by four triangular prongs that delicately embrace the gemstone, resembling protective leaves or feathers.
The bail, crafted from twisted silver wire, adds a touch of elegance and refinement, reinforcing the harmony of the design.
To honor the spirit of the peacock, the lower part of the pendant features symbolic motifs. A silver disc represents a piercing eye, while a stylized feather fan unfolds in fine silver wires, accented with tiny beads that evoke the ocelli, the iconic markings that adorn the peacock’s fanned tail.
The choice of a Hindi name is no coincidence. In India, the peacock holds deep cultural significance and was declared the national symbol in 1963. Present in numerous traditions and beliefs, it embodies grace, joy, beauty, and love. Its image spans centuries and dynasties, adorning the palaces of maharajas, the frescoes of Hindu and Buddhist temples, and the ornate decorations of Mughal architecture. In Hindu mythology, it is associated with the deities Krishna and Saraswati, and its feathers are often depicted as symbols of protection and spiritual elevation.
The Mora pendant is an homage to the magnificence of the peacock and the captivating mystery of labradorite—a unique piece that invites contemplation and embraces the ever-changing light of life.
