Livunn, engraved viking ring in sterling silver

The engraved Viking ring "Livunn" draws its inspiration from the depths of Norse history. Its very name is an ancient Viking name derived from the Old Norse words "hlif" for protection or life, and "unna" for love.

The motif of the Livunn ring pays homage to the famous longships, those formidable Viking vessels that sailed the seas with boldness and fearlessness. Two series of undulating waves, like the raging swells of the ocean, intertwine with grace. In each space between the crossings of the waves, a circle is carefully depicted, thus evoking the immensity of the sea that was the stage for the maritime exploits of the Vikings. The sea, a source of life and wealth for this seafaring people, offered them various opportunities, ranging from fishing and trade to exploration and even piracy. Among the deities associated with this primordial element, Njörd and Ægir hold a prominent place, embodying power, wealth, and prosperity.

The small circles between the waves also evoke the round shields that protected the intrepid Viking warriors on their longships. Adorned with symbols and vibrant colors, these shields inspired fear in their enemies and testified to the pride and bravery of the Norse fighters. Symbols of eternity, the circles present in the ring motif know no beginning or end, thus recalling the continuity of the cycle of life and the permanence of the ancestral traditions of the Vikings.
