ABOUT
The "Butterfly Lovers" is a ring that embodies the silver fusion of an age-old Chinese legend. Its design depicts two butterflies, eternally intertwined, their silhouettes merging into a tender embrace. Their gaze, intense and passionate, gets lost in each other’s radiance, capturing the very essence of love.
This union is magnified by two overlapping discs, like a modest veil, preserving the intimacy of their passionate kiss. Every detail is meticulously engraved, capturing the delicacy of their bodies and the finesse of their wings, bearing witness to the artistry and virtuosity of the craftsman.
This ring carries within it an ancient story, a legend that echoes through the centuries.
Zhu Yingtai is the daughter of a wealthy family. Finding it unfair that she cannot attend school like her brothers, she disguises herself as a boy to do so. At school, she discovers knowledge but also love. She befriends Liang Shanbo. Over the next three years, their friendship grows stronger as they study together. Liang’s feelings are purely platonic. But Zhu starts to become a woman and gradually falls in love with her companion.
Unfortunately, Zhu has to leave school and go to her father who is calling for her before she has time to explain everything to Liang. Their separation is painful, but she makes him promise to come visit her.
When Liang visits Zhu, she reveals herself completely to him. Liang realizes he has wasted precious time and decides to unite with her forever by asking her to marry him. But what Liang doesn’t know is that Zhu’s father has already promised her to a nobleman. Mad with grief, Liang dies of despair.
On her wedding day, Zhu travels by boat to her future husband. Passing near the bank that houses Liang’s grave, a fierce storm prevents her from continuing her journey. When she learns that her beloved's tomb is right in front of her, she bursts into tears, crying out for the tomb to open.
In a flash, the ground collapses beneath her feet, and the tomb opens. Zhu throws herself to join her lover. When calm returns, two butterflies emerge from the tomb and fly towards the sky.
Thus, "The Butterfly Lovers" transcends the mere status of an accessory to become a talisman of eternal love, a poignant reminder of the strength of the bond that unites two souls destined to be together for eternity.
