INSPIRATION
The "Owl under the Moon" earrings pay tribute to these magnificent nocturnal raptors that inhabit our forests and haunt our imaginations. With their life in the shadows and perfect adaptation to the darkness, owls are often called the "watchers of the night," discreet observers of the sleeping worlds.
The earrings take the form of frames in a baroque or Victorian style, reminiscent of small old paintings. The thick border is highlighted on the sides by curved outlines, evoking both the curve of a branch and the fluid movement of silent flight.
In this miniature tableau is frozen our nocturnal watcher, captured in the heart of the action: wings folded back, claws stretched forward, diving towards its target with unwavering determination. Nothing will stop it. Above it, a majestic and mysterious full moon illuminates its hunt. It often accompanies its silent outings, adding an almost supernatural atmosphere to the scene, as if suspended outside of time.
The owl is a discreet and silent bird, whose enigmatic presence has fascinated since antiquity. It is seen as a guardian of the night, a sentinel capable of seeing the invisible and hearing the unspeakable. This natural vigilance makes it a powerful symbol of deep perception, hidden knowledge, refined intuition, and inner vision.
Unlike the owl of Athena, a figure of rational and structured wisdom, the owl evokes instinctive wisdom, wilder and more mystical. It is intimately tied to esotericism, dreams, secrets, and the dark forces that are only perceived in silence. In several spiritual traditions—particularly among some Native American, African, or Oceanic peoples—the owl is seen not as a sign of misfortune but as a soul guide, a messenger of transitions, a scout in the darkest passages of life.
It symbolizes death not as an end but as a necessary transformation, a crossing, a metamorphosis of being. Conversely, in other civilizations, such as those of Asia or Ancient Rome, the owl is revered as a protective spirit, watching over the living and pushing back the darkness with its piercing gaze.
Thus, in all its dimensions, the owl embodies the boundary between worlds—between the visible and the invisible, between matter and spirit, between what is known and what remains to be discovered. These earrings are therefore much more than a simple ornament: they are an invitation to listen to what whispers in the silence, to look beyond appearances, and to honor the hidden part of reality.
