ABOUT
These earrings are made of brass.
These brass earrings were inspired by an African axe make by the Songye, an ethnic group in the Katanga region of Congo. I stumbled by accident on a photo of this ceremonial axe which I took the design and shape for this jewel. You can see this item on the last picture of the panorama.
this ax is one of many objects made of iron or coppers by these particularly gifted and imaginative ethnic groups in the area. Most weapons like something out of a science fiction movie and adopt fascinating shapes and patterns.
the territory of Katanga has important copper mines that allowed Songye to make many objects in this matter.
Polished. Shiny.
They are 6.5cm (2.559 inches).
Size of the African ceremonial ax: 4.6 x 4.8 cm (1.811 x 1.890 inches).
