Sugar skull, mexican skull earrings in sterling silver

These earrings are made of sterling silver (925) made by hand in my workshop.

These earrings are a skull decorated with small flowers inspired by the patterns used for the Day of the Dead in Mexico. Mexicans have a special relationship with death, whose vision is less sad than on the old continent. It is therefore common to find representations as skulls, all over the country.
In Mexico, death is particularly celebrated on the day of the dead, which has Pre-Hispanic origins. This is an opportunity for Mexican families to get together for a night at the cemetery to remember their ancestors and keep alive the family tradition. The tombs are decorated with flowers, incense, food loved by the deceased and music.
I named these earrings with the word "Sugar skull". This is a reference to sugar skulls, which are made during the feast of the dead. This is a skull made in sugar paste and decorated with different colored patterns, including flowers. They are used to decorate altars to the dead, or are offered as gifts to relatives.

They are artisan etched. The etching process takes times but the result allows appreciating the intricate and delicate patterns. The bas relief effect is really nice.

Shiny finish.

Etching is an artisanal process which produces a unique design each time I use it. Two pieces with a same design will never be exactly the same by the hazards of the process. Each detail makes a unique piece.

They are 4cm long (1.575 inches).

The surface of the skull is 2.4 x 1.6 cm (0.945 x 0.630 inches).

You have the possibility of changing the classical sterling silver eawires by sterling silver clips for non-pierced ears.
