Aztec sun, cycles and survival necklace in gold and sterling silver

This pendant is made of sterling silver (925) made by hand in my workshop.

This necklace is made of a thin sterling silver chain and a pendant in sterling silver that I imagined, made and soldered. I then hand gold plated it with a solution that I made according to a traditional recipe I learnt at school with my teacher.

To elaborate such necklace named Aztec sun, I based on the strange and profound relationship between the Pre-Hispanic Aztec people of Mexico and the sun. They had great admiration but also a deep fear. Of the sun, depended survival since they regarded that there had been four previous suns or worlds. If the cycle of the fifth sun ended, their lives as human beings too. This is why the Aztecs thought it was the uninterrupted supply of blood, particularly through the sacrifice for his race never ends.

This is what symbolically tells this pendant based on circular shapes. These circles represent both the stars in question, that their cycles so important for the Pre-Hispanic population. Indeed, the Aztecs had to do everything to continue the cycle of the sun, and beyond, these cycles are the sources of the calendar that sets all the life of these Pre-Columbian Mexican populations.
the largest circle of this pendant represents the sun and its course. In its interior, the smallest circle evokes the earth, dependent on larger ring in order to maintain. Finally, a ball reminiscent of the moon, whose cycle and the relationship with the sun is very important in the Aztec calendar.

This sterling silver necklace measures 45cm long.

The pendant has been plated 3 times so it is a very quality gold plate.

Shiny finish for the chain and the golden pendant.

It is perfect to wear every day. Discrete, delicate and feminine.
