Nautilida, nautilus pendant in sterling silver
It is made of sterling silver (925) made by hand in my workshop.
This silver pendant represents the nautilus shell, mollusk having appeared for 400 million years and which has hardly evolved. Almost a living dinosaur.
this animal fascinates me for its antiquity, originality patterns of his shell and the gracious swim in the ocean. It always makes me think of fossilized ammonite and it’s a bit how I see it. As a fossil, heavy as stone, floating majestically in the oceans, despite its massive appearance. A stone that has transcended time, always in the same rhythm and the same dance, despite the hourglass and movement of the oceans around it.
The nautilus is a symbol of perfection and beauty. This idea is due to the fact that it did not need evolved since its appearance, so it seemed perfect from the start. Its spiral shell is particularly strong and this living fossil represents strength. In its form and its steady growth as partition walls identical to each other, it represents continuity, evolution, and also infinity.
the nautilus is also a symbol of the golden number that tends to infinity.
It is artisan etched. The etching process takes times but the result allows appreciating the intricate and delicate patterns. The bas relief effect is really nice. The deeper part is matte and the upper part has been sanded and polished.
Etching is an artisanal process which produces a unique design each time I use it. Two pieces with a same design will never be exactly the same by the hazards of the process. Each detail makes a unique piece.
