Ouroboros, infinite dragon ring in sterling silver

The Ouroboros ring features an Asian-inspired dragon that encircles the band in a perfect loop, catching its own tail. This ancient motif, steeped in mystery and profound meaning, has transcended time and cultures.

The ouroboros is a universal symbolic figure, depicted as a serpent or dragon biting its own tail, forming an infinite loop. It is closely linked to the concepts of the eternal cycle, infinity, and perpetual renewal. This symbol represents the cyclical nature of time, where every end marks a new beginning, embodying hope, regeneration, and the continuity of existence. However, it also carries an intriguing duality: by consuming itself, the ouroboros evokes self-destruction and dissolution, suggesting that creation and destruction are inextricably intertwined.

This symbol dates back to antiquity and appears in numerous civilizations across the world. One of the oldest known representations comes from 16th-century BCE Egypt, where it was associated with Nun, the primordial ocean, marking the boundary between original chaos and the ordered universe. Later, in Greek tradition, it was adopted by alchemists as an emblem of the Magnum Opus, illustrating the perpetual transformation of matter and soul. It also appears in Norse mythology as Jörmungandr, the great serpent encircling the world, as well as in Eastern philosophies, where it expresses cosmic balance and the interconnectedness of opposing forces.

Through this ring, the ouroboros becomes a meaningful piece of jewelry, serving as a reminder of life’s eternal cycles and the delicate balance between creation and destruction.
